Ep. 4.15 - Two Hours before Midnight in an Imperfect World - October 17, 2015





Inspired by a trip to San Francisco this week, where the art/music/technology group Gray Area presented the prodigiously talented Nicolas Jaar in a swanky private venue off a gritty back alley. This isn't Nico's music, but it's my reflection on taking more risks, moving between more styles and time periods, and enjoying the ride.

I also came straight to the show after the amazing Chikoko fashion show, an experimental celebration of the body and the creative ways we present it in cloth, balloons, vinyl, paper, ... huge feelings of appreciation for Chico's art and amazing people flowing through me during this radio show.

Eccentric Groove with guest DJ Oilpanic Nov. 17, 2012

It was my pleasure this week to have Chico's own DJ/producer Oilpanic in the studio to mix up some of his favorite current sounds. Hjalmar Hake aka Oilpanic hails originally from Sweden but has called Chico his home for many years. He's recently released techno tracks and EPs to critical acclaim on the local 530Techno label as well as Blipswitch, Musical Missionaries and Waveform, and has been nominated numerous times for best electronic artist in Chico. Oilpanic brought in his Traktor rig and I let him take over the show for this rare treat. Hope you enjoy the podcast. Ep 6.06 - guest DJ: Billy the Robot

Happy 808 Day - a holiday to celebrate the drum machine that enabled bass music culture. One of Chico's finest curators of bass music has been about it since '93: Billy the Robot. The deep-digging DJ/Producer dropped in to the Eccentric Groove show this spring and took control for 2 hours, moving through numerous styles of jaw-dropping body-tweaking bass funk.
