DiscoEx Archive: More Radio From the Vault: The Porno Show - Cool with the FCC, but NSFW
Five years ago, while a radio DJ at KFJC (89.7 FM in the San Francisco Bay Area, the best station on the planet for music nerds, seriously), fellow DJ Trinity and I perpetrated a little prank on the unprepared ears of the Saturday afternoon listening audience. It was “freak week”, which is a station tradition wherein DJ’s experiment with format, boundaries and ideas instead of doing their regular shows. Trinity and I took the “freak” to a new level. At noon that Saturday, after the family-oriented entertainment of Bob Emmet’s highly regarded Norman Bates Memorial Soundtrack show, we dove that station directly into the gutter by playing over an hour of porno music.
But not just any porno music, ho no! We selected a blend of music from classic 70’s porno films, music inspired by pornographic movies, songs that contained pornographic content, and stuff that just plain made us hot. We added another layer to this audio smut casserole by adding in sexual sounds of various origins and topped it off with a heaping helping of actual XXX film dialog, sampled from my roommate’s completely revolting “Freaks and Geeks”, a DVD that features clowns, midgets, old people, infantilism, and combinations thereof.
Since there’s no swearing, we did not get arrested, audited, or even in trouble. “Community Standards”? - let’s just say that KFJC’s listening audience includes a fair share of freaks and geeks themselves. This CD, once mastered and duplicated, has become one of my most requested and remembered DJ sets in distribution among friends and strangers. It’s about time I delivered it up unto the Internet. So here it is, beginning (sort of) with the full 17 minutes of Donna Summer’s “Love to Love You Baby (Logan 5 and Trinity’s Group Sex Mix)” and winding up with Lil’ Louis’s famous acid-cum-moaning track “French Kiss”.
Incidentally, Trinity continues to do her show “Rucker Park” on KFJC on Saturdays noon-3pm PST and her show is awesome - the finest in underground hip-hop, funk, jazz and electronica. Check her show out on KFJC’s excellent streams.
